ANSI (American National Standards Institute) ANSI coordinates the development and use of vol- untary consensus standards in the United States across a wide variety of business sectors, and represents the needs and views of U.S. stakeholders in international standardization forums. Founded in 1918, ANSI membership comprises government agencies, private organizations, companies, academic and international bodies, and individuals. ANSI is the official U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and, via the U.S. National Committee, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
