MnO₂ A black, crystalline, water- insoluble compound, decomposing to manganese sesquioxide, Mn₂O₃, and oxygen when heated to 535°C; used as a depolarizer in certain dry-cell batteries, as a catalyst, and in dyeing of textiles.
