研究分散型自组织系统中的集体行为的人工智能技术，也是一种基于行为主义的智能计算方法。群体中众多无智能的简单个体通过相互之间的简单合作表现出的智能行为。从群体行为规则和个体行为协调的角度，研究分布式环境中大量自主个体在没有特定协调者情况下呈现出有序状态的机理，以及在这种机理作用下使群体获得学习与进化能力的规律。
