低湿地区沼泽植物下形成的具有潜育层或兼有泥炭层的土壤。中国土壤分类（暂行方案，1978）及中国第二次土壤普查分类（1988）中，列入水成土土纲沼泽土土类；在中国土壤系统分类（首次方案，1991）中，列为潮湿土土纲、常潮湿土亚纲、潜育土土类；在中国土壤系统分类中，为正常的潜育土；在美国土壤系统分类（1999）中，大致相当于潮湿软土、潮湿始成土；在联合国世界土壤资源参比基础（2014）中，大致相当于潜育土集合土类。
