公元前770年周平王东迁洛邑到前477年（一说478年）周敬王卒的中国历史时期。因为鲁史《春秋》基本记录了这一时期的历史而得名。

中国现存的第一部编年体史书，为春秋时鲁国国史，按年记载了春秋时鲁国及其他列国从鲁隐公元年到鲁哀公十四年或十六（公元前722～前481或前479）年间的历史大事。
