在一个动态的社会发展过程中，社会经济各因素之间存在着循环累积的因果关系：某一社会经济因素的变化，会引致另一社会经济因素的变化，后者的变化反过来又强化了前者的变化，并导致社会经济过程沿着最初那个因素变化的方向发展，从而形成累积性的循环发展趋势。由瑞典经济学家G.缪尔达尔[注]于1956年提出的理论。简称累积因果理论。
