构件处于动态，其材料承受波动的应变作用时，构件内某一点或某几点发生局部的、永久性的组织变化的一种递增过程。若最大循环应力大于屈服应力，则由于材料屈服后应变变化较大，应力变化相对较小，用应变作为疲劳控制参量更为恰当，称之为应变疲劳，在这种情况下，应变疲劳作用的循环应力水平较高，故寿命较低，一般小于104次。又称低周疲劳。
