布里亚特人使用的语言，与俄语同为布里亚特共和国的官方语言。属阿尔泰语系蒙古语族东蒙古语支。也通行于俄罗斯的乌斯季奥尔登斯基布里亚特和阿布加布里亚特自治区、蒙古的北部及中国的东北。根据2004年的统计数据，使用人口总计约59万，其中俄罗斯有37万左右，中国有10万左右，蒙古有6.6万左右。其生存空间不断受到俄语、汉语和蒙古语等主导语言的压缩。
