发育在平缓山地上部喜湿性草甸植被及草甸灌丛草甸矮林下，具有暗腐殖质表层和氧化还原特征的土壤。在中国土壤分类系统（1978）中，列为高山土纲山地草甸土类；在中国第二次土壤普查分类系统（1988）中，列为半水成土纲、山地草甸土土类；在中国土壤系统分类（2001）中，相当于潮湿寒冻雏形土[注]、暗色潮湿雏形土[注]、滞水潜育土[注]；在美国土壤系统分类（1999）中，大致相当于腐殖寒性始成土[注]；在世界土壤资源参比基础（2104）中，大致相当于腐殖质雏形土[注]单元和永冻雏形土[注]单元。又称山地灌丛草甸土。
