塔板理论
借助化工原理中的塔板概念来描述溶质在色谱柱中的浓度变化，将色谱柱看成是由许多单级蒸馏的小塔板组成的精馏塔，并假设每一块塔板的高度足够小，以致在此塔板上溶质在流动相和固定相之间的分配能在瞬间达到平衡。对于一定长度的色谱柱来说，这种假设塔板的高度越小，塔板数就越多，意味着溶质在色谱柱上反复进行的分配平衡次数越多，分离效率就越高。
