发光学
研究发光现象的学科。当某种物质受到诸如光的照射、外加电场或电子束轰击等激发后，只要该物质不会因此而发生化学变化，它总要恢复到原来的状态。在这个过程中，一部分多余的能量会通过光或热的形式释放出来。如果这部分能量是以可见光或近可见光的形式发射出来的，就称这种现象为发光。
