位于内蒙古自治区兴安盟科尔沁右翼中旗，总面积11.96万公顷。地处欧亚草原东部、位于大兴安岭南麓科尔沁沙地北缘，北靠内蒙古兴安盟突泉县，东与吉林省向海国家级自然保护区相邻，南以霍林河为界，西距科右中旗政府所在地巴彦呼舒镇21千米。地理坐标为：东经121°41′～122°41′，北纬44°51′～45°18′。辖区内有新佳木苏木、高力板镇、代钦塔拉苏木的18个嘎查、39个艾里，有草地4.67万公顷，湿地1.80万公顷。是以保护科尔沁草原、大果榆、西伯利亚杏疏林景观、鹤鹳类等珍禽及其栖息环境湿地为主的综合性自然保护区。
