当两株以上病毒株共感染同一个细胞，病毒基因组复制完成后，各基因组RNA（核糖核酸）节段须被包膜包裹形成病毒颗粒，来自不同的原病毒株的基因组RNA节段的复制产物，可能被包裹入同一个病毒颗粒中，最终子代病毒含有重新组合的原病毒株的基因组RNA节段的现象。是具有多节段RNA基因组的病毒变异的一种方式。
