自然褐土经过长期耕种熟化，施加大量土粪或富含有机质的农家肥，并由风尘自然沉降而形成的一种人为土壤。在中国第一次全国土壤普查（1959）中命名，在中国土壤分类暂行草案（1978）和第二次全国土壤普查分类（1988）中归入半淋溶土土纲，褐土土类、塿土亚类；在中国土壤系统分类（1991）中，归入人为土纲，旱耕人为土亚纲，塿土土类；在美国土壤系统分类中，相当于新成土；在联合国世界土壤图图例（1988）中，相当于人为土。曾称堆垫褐土。
