在一定转速下，当压气机流量减小到一定值以后，气体进入工作叶轮和扩压器的角度偏离设计工况，造成气流从叶片或扩压器上强烈分离，使气流产生强烈的振荡和倒流，引起压气机工况不稳定，出现压气机强烈振动、发出异常声响的现象。
