内耳、听神经或听觉中枢的病变致使感受声音或神经冲动传导障碍，从而引起听力下降的疾病。其中，耳蜗听觉感受器病变引起的耳聋称为感音性聋（耳蜗性聋）；病变位于听神经及其传导通路者称为神经性聋；病变位于大脑皮质听觉中枢者称为中枢性聋。亦有将听神经和（或）听觉中枢通路病变引起的耳聋统称为蜗后性聋。
