当配体提供孤对电子或π电子与金属中心原子形成σ-配键时，若配体的π*分子轨道、p轨道或d轨道是空的，且与金属中心原子的d轨道能量相当且对称性适合，中心原子的d轨道电子进入配体的空分子轨道(p、d、π*)形成反馈π键的现象。反馈π键与σ-配键同时形成且协同作用。
