发育在温带森林草原植被下具有深厚腐殖质层和明显二氧化硅淀积层的半淋溶型土壤。在中国第一次土壤普查时，称灰黑土类；在中国土壤分类（1978）和中国第二次土壤普查分类制（1988）中，列为淋溶土纲灰色森林土土类；在《中国土壤系统分类》（第3版）中，归属湿润雏形土、湿润均腐土或冷凉淋溶土；在美国土壤系统分类中，大致相当于黏化冷凉软土[注]、潮湿软土[注]；在联合国世界土壤图图例中，大致相当于灰黑土集合土类[注]。又称灰黑土。
